Khuli Chana's case against cops resumes today

The trial of two police officers accused of shooting at the rapper gets underway in the Randburg Magistrates Court today.

Officers Mduduzi Nzuza and Sam Baloyi briefly appeared in court yesterday but the magistrate was asked to postpone proceedings until today.

The two men face charges of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, failure to take reasonable precautions to avoid danger and negligent use of a firearm.

It is alleged that the policemen shot at the rapper's car after he failed to stop at a road block in Midrand on 28 October last year. It's understood that the officers' mistook Khuli's car for a similar one involved in a kidnapping, which had happened just hours before the shooting.

The policemen are currently out on bail.
