Kid X: By 10 I felt like I had lived my entire life

Johannesburg - Kid X may seem like the new kid on the hip hop block, but it's a role he says he's had to play his whole life.

Talking to DJ Capital on CliffCentral this week, Kid X reveals he's always been the new kid on the block.

"I kept moving around (as a kid). So many places. I've been to like 7 or 8 different schools throughout my school life, and so I've always been that new kid that had to acclimatise to a new surrounding," Kid X reveals.

In fact, it was in one of these schools that Kid X met another rapper, Kwesta. Last week Kwesta told DJ Capital that Kid X had been a bit of a loner in school.

Kwesta's view probably came from the fact that Kid X is just such a chilled person. His too-cool-to-care attitude has surprised many, but it's something Kid X says he developed after feeling like he had done it all at the age of 10.

"By the age of 10, I felt like I had lived my entire life and I was done. The first 10 years of my life were wild as f*ck. I did it all. I was a soccer star. I thought I would pop," he says.

"After 10, in terms of my character, I started to be more laid back and put thought behind my actions, and not acting wild," he adds.
