It's just six months into the year and the 25-year-old has already been featured on many hit tracks - the biggest one being Caracara, where he raps alongside Teargas' K.O.
How does he feel about all the attention? He told The Juice: "This is only the beginning of the moment. It is still unfolding. There are bigger things to come."
With this much attention from fans and industry colleagues, Kid X, real name Bonginkosi Mahlangu, has made sure that he remains grounded. "I never let the hype get to my head. My values and principles don't allow me to be big headed. I keep to myself so that even at times I don't realise the craziness."
While there are many young up-and-coming artists trying to make a name for themselves, Kid X has already found a way to stand out from the rest. He believes his ability to tell his own stories has made has pretty much done the trick.
"I've lived in many cities across the country and those places have taught me many different cultures. I'm all about language," he said, adding that he speaks about five languages. The rapper, who became popular as a member of hip hop group Cashtime Fam, said he's always known what he wanted to do and did everything to make his dream a reality. "It took a lot of discipline."
With everyone watching his every move right now, he believes that the only way to remain at the top is to not lose focus. "I'm going to keep doing what I do."
His formula seems to be working as his recently released single Pass n Special received great support and was even at number two on the SA iTunes hip hop charts.
He now plans to release his album in 2015, but not before releasing a few more tracks to build momentum.
We'll be watching!
