Lerato K opens up about her split from Katlego Mashego

Johannesburg- It's no secret that going through a break-up isn't easy for anyone.

And, it has to be even more difficult if you're a public figure!

TV personality and DJ Lerato Kganyago has opened up to Bona magazine about her break-up from football star, Katlego Mashego

Lerato K and Katlego split after dating for four years and were also engaged to be married.

And, despite facing heartbreak in the past year, Lerato didn't let that deter her from achieving her dreams and goals to become one of Mzansi's most celebrated personalities.

Lerato told the mag that even though she and Katlego aren't romantically involved, they're still very good friends.

"I still love him. If it was meant to be, we'll get back together, if we don't, it's still okay. If he married someone else I'd be genuinely happy for him, and I think that's how he feels about me too," she said.

Lerato also revealed that it was a mutual decision to end things after their relationship became toxic. She explains that they hit a rough patch, which they both couldn't get past.

She added that they both needed to heal separately. Lerato also revealed that she needed to focus on herself and her career, which had taken some what of a back seat during her relationship.

"When I realised this, I made up my mind to do right by me and put myself first. I'd neglected myself in the relationship and put things I wanted to do on hold…I sought to be the perfect girlfriend and lost focus," she explained.
