Lillian Dube plans to spend her birthday by giving back

Johannesburg- Veteran actress Lillian Dube definitely has a lot to celebrate. 

Earlier this week The Juice revealed that Lillian underwent a single mastectomy, but the good news is that she is doing much better. (Read that story here

In fact, Lillian is preparing to celebrate her 70th birthday next week by launching the Celebrities for Good Causes Foundation. 

The foundation aims to help with issues such as women abuse, substance abuse, suicide, depression, anxiety, cancer and HIV/Aids.

The foundation's first initiative is to raise funds for 70 000 pairs of school shoes, which will be handed to NGO's to distribute to children living in rural communities. 

"The 70 000 National School Shoes project is just the beginning of what we intend to become an annual initiative under the Celebrities for Good Causes Foundation. The basis of the organisation is to encourage South African celebrities to utilise their positive influences and networks under one banner the lives of those in need. To date we have already secured 25 000 pairs of school shoes," explained Lillian. 

Lillian will also be celebrating her birthday in style at a public dinner party at Gold Reef City on Thursday night, where musicians such as Mi Casa, Brian Temba and Tats Nkonza will be performing. 

To assist in raising funds for the National School Shoes Project, SMS "School Shoes" to 38321 to donate R10 towards a pair of shoes. Tickets for Lillian's birthday event are on sale at Computicket.
