Johannesburg - Most people would give up everything to win a talent show like Idols, (some of us would even just be grateful for a voice to get as far as the second round) but not former Idols finalist, Lloyd Cele.
Lloyd took to social media this week to reflect on his musical journey so far, and reveals that he is "proud" he never won Idols because it has put him on a musical path he wouldn't have walked down otherwise.
"It never disappoints me that I never won Idols," he says "Honestly I'm proud I never won, strange but true. All I ever wanted was to make great music that can touch and inspire people's lives and a better life for my family."
"Failure can motivate and inspire you for greatness. There's is nothing like the feeling of hearing thousands of people singing along to your song, this just remind me of why I do what I do, and why I love what I do. I love to entertain and turn bring a smile on your face through my music. Change the way think, you'll change the way you live," he added.
Of course, Lloyd may have not won Idols but he was still given half of the winning prize money by his good mate, and eventually winner, Elvis Blue (more on that here). We're sure that money helped Lloyd and his career loads!
