Local movie Thina Sobabili (Just The Two Of Us ) has returned home victorious from Los Angeles.
The film managed to scoop the Audience Choice Award at the prestigious awards ceremony earlier this week. The movie, which is set in Alexandra, follows the lives of a brother and sister, Thulas and Zanele. Growing up in a township wasn't easy but Thulas vowed to protect his sister at all costs, especially after he watched her get abused repeatedly.
The film starred the likes of Mpho Popps, Zikhona Sodlaka and Richard Lukunku. It was written and directed by Ernest Nkosi.
Mpho expressed his excitement on Instagram after they collected the award. "I'm so proud of my team Team Monarchy, it took us 4 years to realize this this dream. It's not easy being self funded filmmakers but it's moments like these that make all that pain and suffering all work it. We wrote this story in our 5x5m office and we shot the entire film in Alexandra.Never in my wildest dreams didn't I think our little film would be traveling the world and winning awards. Words honestly cannot fully describe how happy/proud/excited I am right now," he wrote.
