Local song bird Bongi Mvuyana releases her debut album
Bongi Mvuyana has been on the music radar for some time now, but finally her fans have something to get really excited about: her debut album has finally dropped.
The album, entitled Dopamine, was released Monday on iTunes after a wait of more than two years. "I think a lot of people take listeners for granted. There were a lot of things I had to fight for in this album," she told Times Live, promising her fans a real journey when they listen to the album. "It's a celebration of love, but also a lament for when you're heart-broken," she says.
Bongi has already grabbed the limelight, being chosen as one of three acts to represent SA at the Hennessy international Talent Quest earlier in the year, and counts local muso's Kabomo, Thandiswa Mazwai and even rapper AKA as fans of her work.
But she remains humble about the admiration. "We took so much time working on the music. We had to make sure we gave people 150%. So for people in the industry to genuinely like my music is affirmation that I am doing something right."
We are really glad your album finally dropped Bongi. Here's to hoping we see it shoot straight to the top of the charts!
