We recently caught up with make-up artists Alex Botha and Lindsey Swart.
Here's their top five secrets to a perfectly made-up face:
Fashion week this year is being sponsored by Rimmel, so how are you getting 'the London look'?
Alex: hmmm we are doing the 'London look' South African Style so that means pretty natural clean skin, creamy eyes...
Lindsey: No lips, so we don't put lipstick on our models
Alright, so nude face is Rimmels look...will this set the trend for inside AND outside SAFW?
Alex: It does vary alot during Fashion Week season, but at the moment we are doing make-up that is very minimal, a little bit of contouring that you won't notice if you see them from afar
Lindsey: The trend at the moment is less is more, dewy skin...that does translate to everyday looks too
How do make-up artists get delegated to designers?
Alex: Well we all get briefed according to each show
Lindsey: The first night we did the make-up for SIES!Isabelle and we were meant to do Clive Rundle before the show cancelled
Okay so what are the challenges when it comes to this fast-paced, on the ball make-up industry?
Alex: Getting it done on time!
Lindsey: Quite a number of models walk more than one look, so re-creating another look in the space of a couple of minutes is something...
We've spoken about the bad and the slight downsides..please tell us about the perks?
Alex: We get to meet great people, just like Stoffel (the ladies point at Stoffel their newly acquainted hairdressing friend), haha we've all become friends backstage. So it's lovely to get into a routine again.
Lindsey: It's awesome!
