Manchester United stars to honour Senzo Meyiwa

What a heart-warming gesture!

Manchester United  football stars will take on Orlando Pirates legends in a friendly match to honour slain goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa next weekend.

Some of the proceeds from the match and gala-dinners will be given to Senzo's family.  Orlando Pirates administrator, Floyd Mbele, explained that they were incredibly excited about the up-coming match.

"We’re looking forward to taking on the Legends. It'll make for great football and will offer our fans the chance to see some of the game’s most legendary names in action. The game at Ellis Park will be special for many reasons," he said in a statement.

Flyod added that they were overwhelmed at the support for Senzo Meyiwa, through the Manchester Legends and FC Tours kindly offering a percentage of the proceeds to Senzo’s family. He encouraged fans to come out in their numbers to support the game.

Among the Manchester legends who will playing are Paul Scholes, Louis Saha, Viv Anderson, Jesper Blomqvist, David May, Keith Gillespie and Russell Beardsmore.

"We'll all be honouring the memory of Senzo Meyiwa and are proud to have a chance to help raise funds to support his family," Paul said.

The match takes place at Ellis Park Stadium on 15 November and kickoff is at 6pm. Tickets are on sale at Computicket and Shoprite stores across the country, and are selling for R40, R60 and R100.
