Music: Al Bairre - Tunnels

In a nutshell: It's been a while since Cape Town Indie-pop band Al Bairre have released new material. And just like a sudden punch to the mouth from a hated enemy, they release one of their most beloved live songs as a single.

What’s it like: A carousal of musical sounds that just goes round and round in a never ending circle of awesomeness, adding layer by layer until every person and every sound is crammed on one huge spinning wheel. Lyrically, it has the darkness of Arcade Fire.

Fave Bit: "I guess i'll never know" sings frontman Nick Preen, hauntingly over an organ solo that is just creepy, but in a good way.

Rating: One of Al Bairre's best live songs finally gets the single treatment and it's brilliant, well worth the wait. Nick's voice is just powerful on a track which wouldn't sound out of place on an Arcade Fire album. It shows just how much the band has grown.    5 /5
