In a nutshell: Pop-rock boy band, The Vamps, have come a long way from their formation in 2012 , releasing several singles which shot up the charts. Sometimes compared to similar boy bands One Direction and The Wanted, can The Vamps debut album hold to the high expectations the industry and their comparisons have set?
What’s it like: A run through a park of teenage adventures. There's no doubt that The Vamps will attract teen and tween fans, who will love their fast paced and high energy pop-rock sound, more than any other group. For fans who don't fall in that age category The Vamps reflect a time when life was a lot more adventurous and love was so much easier.
Opening with the single "Wild Heart", Meet the Vamps starts with the love-fuelled-dance-inspired sound early on. The pace of the album only quickens from that moment on with other some of the highlights of the album to follow in Last Night, Somebody to you, Can We Dance and Girls on TV. It's fun all the way through the album, even when it drops a mood on songs like "Another World".
Fave Bit: The contagious "Somebody to you" is as powerful a pop ballad as it is a funky dance floor filler. It also helps that the track is placed in the middle of a killer first half of the album, with hits "Can We Dance" immediately following it and single, "Last Night" preceding it.
Rating: The Vamps release their debut album to a lot of expectation but the four piece Brit band have done well with an album that is solid and catchy. The average listener may find the sound a bit tired and monotonous by the time the last two songs on the album come in, but for Vamps fans Meet The Vamps represents a dream debut with more than enough Vamp to keep you dancing for months. 4/5
