In a nutshell: Pop princess Taylor Swift is just about ready to release her fifth album, 1989. The first single from the upcoming album is the catchy Shake It Off.
What’s it like: Looking at her reflection in the waves. Shake It Off feels like Taylor Swift is talking all about herself. She pokes fun at the things people say about her and does it in a way that makes us laugh along.
Fave Bit: In the middle of the song, the beat cuts and Taylor leads a chant monologue about her ex bringing his new girlfriend around. It's very reminiscent of classic Avril Lavigne.
Rating: Shake It Off may sound like just another Taylor Swift song, but there's something different about Taylor in the song. It's almost like she's casting off her childhood innocence and her dependence on pop beats and is having a little more fun with her sound. We think it's a good direction. 4/5
