Mzansi Magic's Zabalaza gets the boot!

Johannesburg - Mzansi Magic has denied that popular drama series, Zabalaza, has been canned over poor ratings.

Weekend reports indicated that the popular show, featuring Nonhle Thema and Zolisa Xaluva, had been given the boot after it failed to wow audiences. 

Mzansi Magic has confirmed to The Juice that the show will come to an end in April next year, but say it is part of a wider effort to rebrand.

"It has nothing to do with viewership figures but rather there has been a rebranding at the channel and we are introducing new stories," Mzansi Magic publicist, Emmah Ngomane said.

She added that there's no need for panic as many of the actors from the popular show may soon find a new home on the channel's other shows.

"There are no definite plans but it's not the end for the Zabalaza actors on the channel. There will always be room for the actors on Mzansi Magic and as we introduce new shows we will be looking to possibly include some of the actors. They are part of the family and they know that," Emmah says.

So maybe it's not quite time for Nonhle to hit the streets and hand out her CV...
