Johannesburg - Nambitha Mpumlwana has long left the role of Mawande on Generations, but it seems she just can't shake the shadow the popular soapie has cast on her. That doesn't mean she isn't trying though.
Nambitha sat down with Khanyi Mbau on Katch it With Khanyi recently where she says she was adamant that she does not owe her career to Generations.
"I think a lot of people misunderstand the situation. I had a career before Generations. I brought a brand to Generations. I'm not afraid to say that and I said that to them as I was negotiating my contract with them," Nambitha told Khanyi.
"I think that was the issue with alot of us (fired actors), we are trained actors, actors with careers. The transition was difficult and it came to a head, expectations were very different."
Despite this, Nambitha says she holds no grudges with Connie Ferguson for going back to the soap.
"We each make our own decisions based on our needs and wants and where we are in life. Just because I do not agree with something you do, does not mean it doesn't affect me - it's just not about me," she says.
