Johannesburg - This year was a good year for many of Mzansi’s celebrities when it came to Cupid.
Here are 4 hook-ups that had us hooked:
1. Masego “Maps” Maponyane and Nomzamo Mbatha
Actress Nomzamo Mbatha and Masego “Maps” Maponyane make a great couple together. They are also best friends and they make good travelling buddies. The two have been rumoured to be dating for more than two years and acted as romantic leads in a local movie, Tell Me Sweet Something, but they only confirmed their affair in May.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan magazine, Mbatha said: “He’s one of the smartest, most incredible human beings. And, you know … he’s hot.”
2. TV presenter Ayanda Thabethe and Mthoko “Dash” Mkhathini
After Ayandas’s break-up with Andile Ncube, she was seen with Dash from Durban popular hip-hop group Dream team. They haven’t confirmed their relationship, but Dash said: “I don’t want to confirm much. If people don’t like us together, it’s cool. If they like us, even cooler.”
He added that Ayanda was the closest person he had, “She supports me a lot and I do the same.”
3. Ntombezinhle “DJ Zinhle” Jiyane and Brendon Naidoo
He remained a mystery man until September, when Drum magazine shared images of DJ Zinhle’s new corporate investment banker boyfriend, Brendon Naidoo.
“I’m in a very happy space and that’s all I can say,” she said.
Since then the couple have come out publicly about their relationship. During an interview on Real Talk with Anele, Zinhle talked about how they met – during a business meeting at Brendon’s office with his cousin.
4. Amanda du-Pont and Shawn Rodriques
We first knew about their relationship when Du-Pont celebrated her birthday in June and boasted that she had received the best roses.
He went as far as sharing a video with the caption: “I met you a little while ago ... You took your time getting to know me, and I took mine. Nothing could have prepared me for how hard I would fall for you.”
He added: “The very first day we spent together, I knew ... I knew that life with you would be something I’ve never experienced before. I pray we get to share infinite birthdays together. Happy birthday baby, I love you.”
