Cape Town - Graduation season is in full swing and you’d be surprised how many local celebs were part of this year’s graduating class.

They’ve shown us the value of hard work – and their commitment to bagging those qualifications.

Larona Moagi

The actress who played Tumi Mokoena on Mzansi Magic’s The River has received a BA law degree from Wits. Larona wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram motivating her followers to reach for their dreams through hard work and dedication.

"What a great achievement this is for me. Through the good and the bad I got through it," she said.

Sipho Ngwenya

Music producer Sipho "Psyfo" Ngwenya graduated with a BCom in marketing management from the IMM Graduate School. He told his Instagram followers it was one of the proudest days of his life and that he was the first in his family to graduate from university.

"Had some sacrifices to do but the reward feels so good. Thank you to those have also walked this journey with me, friends and family," he said.

Kendall Chinsamy

Emtee’s longtime girlfriend graduated with a degree in fashion design and he couldn’t be prouder! The mother-of-two thanked Emtee on Instagram for believing in her dreams. In turn he expressed his pride in her.

"Couldn’t finish school but my hustle helped me do it for. Look at you mama," he said.

Naledi Pandor

She’s certainly living up to her position as minister of higher education and training – Naledi Pandor has received her doctorate in education from the University of Pretoria.

She shared a video of herself walking on stage with her degree in hand and several congratulatory messages poured in.


TimesLive reports she has an extensive list of academic accolades to her name, including a master’s degree in general linguistics from Stellenbosch University, a diploma in education from the University of London as well as a diploma in leadership in development from the Kennedy School of Harvard University.

Bryan Habana

The former Springbok player who retired from rugby last year graduated from the Toulouse Business School. Although he regrets not completing a BSc in information technology, he is still very proud of the diploma he obtained. He attributes his accomplishment to his wife who constantly motivated him and ensured that everything in their home was in order.
