Cape Town - Many local stars have gone public about embracing their spiritual calling, through training or practice.
1. Boity Thulo
After weeks of speculation, Boity confirmed sangoma rumours with an Instagram post on Monday.
She shared a picture of herself wearing traditional ancestral clothing and wrote: "They Called. I Answered. The Proudest, most incredible day of my life. A Beautiful Gift that I will never take for granted."
2. Letoya Makhene
When Letoya got a call from the ancestors to be a sangoma, she left everything behind to follow their wishes. She spoke to True Love about her journey, "For me, healing people is like counselling."
3. Dineo Ranaka
Dineo spoke about receiving the calling on the chilling season 4 finale of Dineo's Diary.
4. Buhlebendalo Mda
The Soil took to Facebook to announce that Buhle will be taking a break because of her ancestral calling earlier this year.
In the video, Buhle said: "As Africans, we have to answer to greater being than ourselves. Hence I will be taking some time out to concentrate on my own ancestral calling. From March, 2016, I will be absent from all performances with The Soil."
5. Lerato Mvelase
Lerato opened up about her sangoma training on Instagram: "The hardest months of my life. Emotionally, physically and spiritually. Away from my home, my kids, my mother! But I'm a soldier, a powerful spirit."
"I'm connected in the most amazing way to my God, UMveliqandi, Abathembu, my ancestors. I know who I truly am. I am stripped off the worldly things I thought defined me, made me," she went on the say.
