5 local celebs who started a fashion line

Johannesburg – Our local stars are taking over the fashion industry.

From a swimwear range, to suits for men and women, and even a children’s line, these celebrities have taken their love of fashion and used it to create unique brands of their own. 

Take a look at 5 famous faces who have their own clothing lines: 

1. Nandi Madida 

Nandi Madida launched her Colour clothing line in 2016, taking to the red carpet at the BET Awards that year in one of her own designs.

Since then the star has showcased her line on local runways, and in February will be taking her work to New York Fashion Week.

2. Dr Smile

This dentist to the stars not only dabbles in music, but fashion as well.

Dr Smile along with partner Raphaël Mukendi, have started their own range of bespoke suits for men and women. 

3. Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala

Former Miss SA Bokang Montjane teamed up with her husband soccer star Siphiwe Tshabalala to start their own kids clothing line.

The duo have come up with a line for boys called "Super Shabba" designed after Siphiwe, as well as a "Princess Bokang" line for girls.  

4. Thuli Phongolo

In early 2017 actress Thuli Phongolo introduced fans to her fashion line Tulip.

"TULIP is a brand that will forever celebrate the diverse woman that knows what she wants," the star said about her brand.

5. Omuhle Gela

The star launched her Twenty Swimwear line in 2014. "What makes it different is the fact that it is 100 percent sketched by me," she said in an interview with The Juice
