Cape Town - South Africa's longest running TV game show Noot vir Noot has been a favourite among local Afrikaans music lovers for well over two decades, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The iconic show first aired in 1991 and is currently still by hosted by the original host, Johan Stemmet. The 66-year-old TV veteran coined the popular Afrikaans phrase "Vyftig randjies vir jou!"

Johan, who was known for his colourful shirts and waist coats, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 SAFTAs.

If you're not familiar with the show format, four contestants take part in each episode, during which they interpret musical clues. A guest artist will also perform a medley of songs.

The show is currently on a break, and while we wait for Noot vir Noot's return, here are five photos from a really long time ago
