7de Laan actress' mom trapped in her home during hostage situation

Cape Town  The mother of 7de Laan actress, Carina Nel, was trapped in her home in The Meadows security complex in Moreletapark, Pretoria during a hostage situation on Wednesday. 

Carina portrays the role of Alexa Welman in the soapie. 

According to Huisgenoot, Carina's mother stays in the security complex where four people died during the nine hour long hostage situation.  

Speaking to Huisgenoot on Whatsapp while the drama unfolded, Carina said, "My mother-them are trapped. They are not allowed the leave the house. The worst part is that we know the security guards very well".

She went on to call the situation, "extremely terrible." No one was allowed inside the complex and they were not allowed to go to her.  

News24 reported that the gunman who held at least five people hostage was found dead before 22:00 on Wednesday night.
