Governments ban on large gatherings has seen a slew of local events being cancelled, with the latest being 947's Joburg Day in the Park.

The radio station made the announcement on Friday via a statement on social media.

"At the direction of the South African government and local health authorities, we must regretfully announce the following changes to our 047 event calendar! #HuaweiJoburgDay in the Park has been cancelled. 947 takes the safety and health of our guests, staff and our Joburg community very seriously and we urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols of public health officials," it reads.
