It looks like controversial businessman and celebrity Casanova Nico Matlala is in hot water with the law once again. According to the Sunday Sun Nico sold his Mercedes-Benz to a fellow businessman and then allegedly stole it back. A Sandton nightclub owner by the name of Abdul Olatunji allegedly bought a Mercedes-Benz V-class from Matlala that then disappeared the following morning reports the Sowetan. Douglasdale police have confirmed that a case of car theft has been opened against Matlala.

But this is not the first incident where Matlala has found himself on the wrong side of the law. Here are three more incidents we can think of:

1.       ‘Stealing’ money for lobola

Earlier this year a woman named Millicent Kgwale accused Nico Matlala of conning her so that he could pay lobola for his ex-girlfriend Lebohang Mabe.  Matlala allegedly swindled Kgwale out of R135 000 by promising her she’d be his business partner in a new multi-million rand project to install fibre optic cables.  After seeing news of the lobola payment, Kgwale put two and two together and pressed charges against the infamous businessman.

2.       Arrested for stealing a Mercedez-Benz

In November 2016, the Sunday World stated that Nico was arrested for stealing a Mercedes-Benz C180 that he hired from a rental company at OR Tambo International Airport. Matlala allegedly reported a case of theft, claiming the car was stolen while he was at a club, but after an investigation it was revealed that he gave the car to then-girlfriend, Zakhona Magubane, as a birthday gift. The case was postponed to April after Matlala failed to appear in court.

3.       Spending a night in jail

After a video of Matlala throwing his then-girlfriend Lebohang Mabe out of his house went viral, she opened a case of assault against Matlala and he allegedly spent the night in a cell at the Olifantsfontein police station.
