5 local celebs lend a helping hand for 67 minutes on Mandela Day

The late Nelson Mandela would have been 101 years old today and in celebration of the struggle icon celebrities all over Mzansi have taken time off their busy schedules to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate on International Nelson Mandela day.

Nelson Mandela is globally renowned and revered for his fight and efforts to free the people of South Africa from the apartheid government as well as being a man of peace.

On this day millions around the world celebrate and honor his memory by spending 67 minutes doing charity work and being of good help to communities that are in need. The day was officially declared by the United Nations in 2009.

67 minutes on Mandela day is a global call to action that encourages people to give their time to help a person in need, it celebrates the idea that one individual can change the world, it is a day dedicated to taking the steps to eradicate poverty by giving to the less fortunate.
