AKA picks own design team after #TouchMyBloodChallenge | Drum

AKA fans were up in arms on Twitter after the rapper revealed the winner of his competitive #TouchMyBloodChallenge is his own Beam Design Group team.

In April the 30-year-old father of one announced the competition to design the cover art for his third studio album that will drop on 25 May.

Along with fan entries, his own team would compete in designing a cover that represented the “feel” of his latest album.

However, much to the surprise of his 3,4 million followers the rapper revealed it was his own team who impressed him most with an album cover design.

Personally, there were so many covers that while they were super dope, didn’t manage to capture the feeling I was looking for. Doesn’t mean the people who made them aren’t skilled or super talented.

One lucky fan, however, did walk away a winner after teh Sweet Fire rapper announced he would be using his design for the back cover.

The artwork, designed by Twitter user @LonerTK, features a tribute to AKA’s daughter, Kairo.

With a bunch of merchandise and lots still left to do for promotion of the album, AKA confirmed he’ll need illustrators and designers – resulting in four internships opening up at the design group.

Despite the positive spin placed on the competition, not everyone was impressed with the fact the Beam Design Group was the ultimate winners of the #TouchMyBloodChallenge.
