Lynn Forbes known as Glammy is an ambassador of the 2018 Trek4Mandela Expedition and mother to celebrity rapper AKA.

For this year’s Trek4Mandela Expedition, Glammy aims to assist in raising R1million in aid Caring4Girls, a foundation that assists girls across South Africa supporting two million economically disadvantaged schoolgirls by 2020.

Glammy says she is “committed to raising awareness for the initiative, in order to increase accessibility to much needed sanitary products, together with hygiene education and to ensure the growth and development of young South African schoolgirls into women with dignity.”

A teacher by profession and a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Lynn has always wanted to summit Kilimanjaro, “the place above the clouds, where I escaped to during the time of my abuse as an 11-year-old.”

Her childhood dream to summit Mount Kilimanjaro resurfaced with the birth of her granddaughter Kairo Owethu Forbes in 2015.

Three years in the planning, this triggered her final decision and commitment to summit Africa’s highest mountain, as part of her 50th birthday celebrations in July 2018.

All the best Glammy!
