City’s Lyric Theatre will come to life this Saturday as musicians Dumza Maswana
and Msaki grace the stage with their melodic sounds.
Fans will
be treated to soulful sounds at the event dubbed “An Afropolitan Evening”. The
two SA Music Awards nominees will come together for a musical showcase for the
first time under the same roof, something scores of fans have been asking for
over the years.
It seems
it’s not just the fans who will be looking forward to the event,
singer-songwriter Dumza is just as ecstatic about it.
“I use
music to allow people into my space and also put my baritone voice in the
spotlight. The year 2017 has been a great year for me musically and this show
is an opportunity for me to thank my supporters for all the love they’ve shown
me and to honour their request for a show with my home girl and sister Msaki,”
he said.
The pair
will perform with their respective bands whilst collaborating on a few songs.
Well-known musicians such as Cici, Nia Pearl and the Port-Elizabeth-based duo
Umle will be opening acts for the live musical experience.
“I’m very
excited to be a part of this show. To share the same stage with Dumza Maswana
and Msaki is an absolute privilege for me. For me, it’s never really just about
singing, it’s about sharing my experience of life and talent with the rest of
the world. It’s also going to be amazing for people to see the metamorphosis of
the brand,” Cici told DRUM.
