Cape Town - The Simelane family says they’ll support Babes Wodumo in whatever decision she takes when it comes to her relationship with Mampintsha.

On Friday in an interview on Metro FM, the gqom singer claimed the Big Nuz singer physically abused, even breaking her nose and leg, during their relationship.

Babes, real name Bongekile Simelane, also revealed she’d ended their relationship in March.

Yet, Mampintsha was unrepentant in an interview with the same station days later, saying he and Babes are still together and he wants to marry her.

Speaking to DRUM following a turbulent week for Babes, her sister Nondumiso says the Wololo hitmaker will decide for herself what the next step is.

“The decision cannot be taken by us, it has to be taken by the person involved in the story,” she says about her younger sister.

“If she wants to say ‘enough is enough’ and ‘everything is over’, we just have to support her. She needs to make a decision without being forced.”

Nondumiso had nothing but criticism for Mampintsha, real name Mandla Maphumulo, who claimed there’s a “third hand” at work in his relationship with the 23-year-old singer.

“We heard Mampintsha speak about a third hand involved in this but there is no one else. Babes is tired. She doesn’t like this anymore, it’s at a point where’s she’s had enough and standing up for herself.”

Nondumiso adds the family is “hurt” by the revelations of the alleged abuse suffered by Babes during the relationship, saying they’ve spoken to her since it all came to light and she’s focused on “trying to heal”.

Nondumiso also tells DRUM Mampintsha hasn’t spoken to the Simelanes or come to their home to explain what happened. “You see how in interviews he still continues to deny what has happened, I doubt there is anything we can speak about with him.”
