At the end of last year, local musician Rowlene released a single from her upcoming album and although things are moving slowly due to Covid-19, she’s determined to finish her record.

We chatted to the Curtain Call singer to find out more about her music and how the national lockdown has impacted her emotionally.

“Lately I’ve been going to bed around 5am and waking up around 9/10am. I've been going to bed at random hours. There has been absolutely no consistency to my sleeping pattern. However, I’m getting a lot more done.”

First thing you do after waking up: The first thing I do is listen to whatever idea I made the previous day while peeing.

Breakfast, lunch, supper: My diet hasn’t been especially balanced, ha ha ha!

Are you eating more or less: I’m eating less, oddly, but I’ve been spending a lot of time in the kitchen trying to learn some more skills.

Between meals: We usually start working around 12pm till around 8pm (with breaks sometimes). We then have supper and either play games or watch movies like an un-biologically functional family till around 2/3am. Sometimes we head back to the studio to work, but sometimes we call it a day. We're in the final stages of album completion and I guess the thrill of it has been keeping us excited and motivated through this time.

Watchlist: I’m trying to catch Sam up on a bunch of movies she hasn't seen. We recently just watched Clueless, Uptown Girls and School of Rock, to mention a few.

Bedtime: I go to bed when I’m tired.

“Emotionally, it’s been really different,” the singer says. “I’ve been finishing up my album with Jnr and it’s sounding amazing. I genuinely cannot wait for the world to hear my heart.”
