Local rapper Emtee has had a tough couple of months but it seems there might be a silver lining for him at the end of it all.

Last month he announced he was parting ways with the record label that helped him shoot to stardom, Ambitiouz Entertainment. Just a month later and Emtee is officially starting his own recording company, Emtee records.

In a recent interview with DRUM, he explained why he left his previous record label company,

“In the last month I wasn’t getting a cent, even if you perform 100 shows a month you still get the same amount of money at the end of every month”.

The rapper was involved in a car accident where he hit his chest on the steering wheel and passed out.

“I don’t know how it happened maybe I was tired, but I crashed, I remember hitting my chest on the steering wheel, I was in and out of consciousness.

“Instead of the CEO [of Ambitiouz Entertainment] checking if I’m okay, he told me I needed to pay like R700 000, that’s crazy."

The rapper told DRUM that he made transport arrangements when he found himself without a car, he made plans to take his kids to school and used Uber or called his friends.“It’s been a big life lesson,” he said.

Since he announced his departure from the infamous record label, fans have been curious about his next move and he finally revealed it in a Twitter post recently.
