Award-winning artist Dr Tumi made history in August as the first gospel singer to fill the Ticketpro Dome in Joburg. But that was just the beginning for the former medical doctor. He’s back, this time with veteran musician Benjamin Dube. The two gospel artists will join forces on 24 November at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg for a worship concert.

When DRUM asked how the idea for the concert came about, Dr Tumi explains that a fan tweeted Benjamin Dube requesting a collaboration between the two artists. “Benjamin Dube responded by saying if he received 700 retweets, then we would collaborate. The fan received 700 retweets on the day so we had to give the people what they wanted.”

The Nothing Without You singer also says that he and Benjamin Dube have wanted to collaborate for a while and that the concert might cross to other provinces due to high demand. “People have asked us to bring the concert to Durban, so we’re looking at having a leg across the country.”

Fans are in for a treat as Dr Tumi promised he’ll be performing as yet unreleased material from his upcoming album as well as new songs he and Benjamin Dube have been composing.

Dr Tumi’s new album The Gathering of Worshippers is set to drop later this month.
