Inside Dwyane Wayde's glamourous retirement party

Former professional American basketball star Dwyane Wayde celebrated the end of his 16-year long career with a bang – by hosting a star-studded retirement party.

Dwyane who played his final game on Tuesday before retiring at the age of 37 in Miami, hosted a farewell party in New York alongside his actress wife Gabrielle Union. The guest list which included A-list celebrities such as Justin Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel, John Legend, Lala Anthony, and fellow basket stars LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony to name a few joined in on the celebration.

Taking to her Instagram Gabrielle, who welcomed her first child with Wayde through surrogacy in 2018, shared a snap of the couple looking all 70’s glammed up at the Disco-themed party.

“First Dance Of The Rest Of Our Lives #OneLastDance” she captioned the post.

The former NBA star even received a heartfelt farewell message from former US president Barack Obama who commended the basketball ace for his excellent work throughout his career.

“D-Wade! Congratulations on a great run. Now, I know what you're going through because saying goodbye to a career that you love is never easy. I've been there,” said Obama in the clip.

“You were willing to sacrifice your body in the lane and sometimes sacrifice your ego in pursuit of a title. And whenever you got knocked down you always showed us how to get back up . . . you did us proud”
