TV presenter and DJ Khanya Mkhangisa admitted that she has and continues to lose work following the video of her arrest going viral, earlier this year. In the video Khanya is being arrested after being caught driving under the influence.

In the video she could be seen with her hands behind her back as a heated exchange of words took place between her and a female officer during the arrest.

In a recent interview with Thomas Msengana and Pearl Modiadie on Metro FM, she shed light the effect the video has had on her career.

“There was a campaign I was supposed to do. I got the dreaded email that due to the video that is circulating we’re going to have to... you know” she said. “To this day, clients have taken a step back, especially the influencing work. It’s really taken a knock, which really sucks,” she admitted.

Khanya first broke her silence after the video surfaced and apologised for its contents on Metro FM with former breakfast host, DJ Fresh.

Speaking on Metro FM’s Fresh Breakfast just three weeks after the incident she decried her actions and admitted to having been in the wrong.

“I was in the wrong, no one should be ever driving under the influence, for whatever reason. That shouldn’t have happened, that I acknowledge but keep the same energy, treat me like you would everyone else,” she said.

She claimed that what the video didn’t show is how the police officer tortured her before she got out of her car,

“People don't know that this woman tortured me before I even got out of my car,” she added.

In an Instagram post after the incident she wrote, “Still standing... Your mistakes don’t define you, what matters most are the lessons learnt and how you rise above.”

In February she also made headlines for spending a night behind bars after an alleged hit and run incident. She dismissed the allegations. To set the record straight she did an interview with ENCA and said,

“I was in my complex, parking in my parking bay. I hit, like a little small dent, almost like a scratch, hit the car that was next to me and I left my details. So, it wasn't like a dramatic situation,” she said.
