Cape Town - Lehasa Moloi is on a journey to be a better person.
The buff actor posted before and after pictures of himself on Instagram recently, showing his fans what a difference a few years can make.
The caption, “#TransformationTuesday the road to hell. I know it because I was on it,” refers to his past drug abuse and battle with depression.
Lehasa opened up to DRUM about his struggle with “darkness”.
“If I were to dig really deep the cycle of what I call my darkness started with my parents’ divorce. I’m not blaming them but once something traumatic like that happens it causes a break in yourself,” the actor said.
Other local celebrities who have spoken up about their past drug and alcohol problems include Riky Rick and Trevor Gumbi. And Lehasa is one of their number – someone who has come out the other side a better and stronger person.
The actor said he’s been saved and believes in the power of God and warns of how addiction can start off as a small thing. “It starts off as a little bit of something. A little bit of social drinking, a little bit of experimenting.”
Lehasa’s wife, Cleo Moloi, is currently expecting baby number two. They have a four-year-old son together.
