Cape Town - Radio host and presenter Lerato Kganyago recently revealed her "darkest moment" in radio – and it’s a moment we all remember all too well.
During an interview on Metro FM with Masechaba Ndlovu and Mo Flava, Lerato was asked about her darkest moment in the industry. She revealed that it was the day in 2017 when she co-hosted with presenter and reality TV star Bonang Matheba.
“I’m not trying to blame anyone. It was actually the day I did the show with Bonang, on that day,” she said in response to the presenter’s question.
She continued to say that she cried for days because she was blamed for Bonang’s departure on Metro FM.
Lerato joined Metro FM in April 2017 as a co-host on Front Row. The “Ask A Man” presenter also spoke about her relationship on radio with Bonang as “great at first” but later became tense.
“In the beginning it was great but it was very tense and I thought it was a teething phase, we will get over it,” said Lerato.
“But it was just awkward,” she continued. Lerato concluded by saying that she has a lot of respect for Bonang and that Queen B had her own reasons for leaving the show.
“I have so much respect for her. She has her own reasons why she left.”
She also claims that she gave Bonang advice on the day she left Metro FM. “I remember the last show we did together, we were in the corridor. I said to her: ’Bonang don’t ever, ever, ever in your life make emotional decisions'.”
For years, Lerato has been accused for mimicking Queen B. In an interview with True Love, Lerato had confessed that she was tired of being compared to Bonang. It was also alleged that the two ladies have ‘beef’ but they managed to brush it off on social media.
