Last night media personality Khanyi Mbau announced her split from longtime boyfriend Tebogo Lerole.
When the two reportedly began dating in 2009 and seemed so in love. Before her relationship with the Kwela Tebza artist, Khanyi had been infamous for dating older men who provided for her financially.
From her ex-husband, Mandla Mthembu, to her married lover, Theunis Crous, Khanyi became the most famous “blessee” in Mzansi’s entertainment history.
After years of living the “blessed” life, the mom of one decided to leave it all behind and subsequently fell in love with Tebogo.
It was clear from the beginning Khanyi was head over heels in love with the 37-year-old singer.
In an interview with People magazine, Khanyi spoke about how the two first met.
“We met in 2006 but it was a work setup and we were at EMI record label – just work colleagues at the time.”
She then added that Tebogo started pursuing her in 2007 but she only later agreed to give him a chance.
When asked why she loves him, the actress said, “He’s noble, genuine and real. He’s always been that dependable, super-friendly guy who remains true to himself.”
Over the years rumours of a secret engagement swirled but were never confirmed by the couple.
Earlier this year Tebogo shared a picture on Instagram of him and Khanyi.
“This here human always makes me believe... She's my constant reminder that life has no limits and all that we see with our naked eye is attainable; and the impossible is possible,” he captioned the photo.
In the post that announced their break-up, Khanyi wrote, “When Love is not enough? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?? Today, I made peace with a battle that I have lost, I have accepted defeat.”
“My greatest fear and my greatest loss.. letting go of the man I gave my heart to…”
Is love really lost between the two stars? Only time will tell.
