According to the media company, which published the list of the best burger spots, the ranking is based on the views of a number of star chefs and other culinary elites – TV chef Lorna Maseko suggested Buns Out – who handpicked the restaurants based on their preferences. And Maps' Buns Out, which is based in Linden, Johannesburg, was among the top spots.
"It has attracted a lot of media attention. There are about a dozen burgers, including vegetarian and vegan options. Quirky names include Is It Brie You’re Looking For?," the publication wrote.
The TV personality and model officially opened Buns Out in September last year and recently opened a branch in Durban.
Other restaurants who were named in the list include The Wolseley in London, Café a Bistro in Peru as well as Hombo in Hong Kong. Buns Out is the only African restaurant on the list.
After hearing the news, Maps took to Instagram to share his excitement.
"You like us, you really really like us. Thank you. Buns Out#BunsOut #BestBurgerList #Bloomberg," he captioned a screenshot of an article.
