Nomzamo Mbatha reflects on her humanitarian work: ‘I’m not one who gives up’

Local actress Nomzamo Mbatha is making a huge impact on the lives of the less fortunate in Africa.

The 29-year-old took to her Instagram page to celebrate her work so far through The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

“Some archives that make my heart warm and fuzzy! Memories!” she began.

“Reflecting on the past year and a half of my work with the UNHCR whilst also pursuing the fullest desire of my heart which is to build schools and learning centers in South African townships and across the African continent. To also start a program on Renovating, refurbishing and equipping Maternity and Pediatric wards in marginalized communities”.

Putting my heart out there and constantly speaking to potential donors and engaging so many stakeholders on how to make this vision a reality has been no easy feat! But I’m not one who gives up! So…” she concluded.

Nomzamo Mbatha was appointed as a goodwill ambassador by The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and has done amazing work as an advocate for their LuQuLuQu campaign which raises awareness about refugee camps.

According the UNHCR website, the LuQuLuQu campaign was an effort to promote the philosophy of sharing resources and caring for displaced people in Africa.

Nomzamo spent time in Refugee camps from across Africa not only getting to learn about the experiences and hardships they face but having the opportunity of learning about different cultures.

She has been awarded with a Rising Star award from Face Africa and has also been presented with a Legislative Resolution by the state of New York in recognition of her work with youth development in the KwaZulu-Natal.

The actress Founded the Lighthouse Foundation which helps individuals living with a Mental illness and depression.
