Since the premiere of award-winning documentary Surviving R Kelly, the disgraced R&B singer has been embroiled in a series of scandals which involve him allegedly abusing multiple women.
This past weekend one of R Kelly’s girlfriends spoke out against him and revealed how he abused her for the four years she has lived with him.
According to Daily Beast, which reports to have had access to her posts, 24-year-old Joycelyn Savage took to her paid subscription Patreon page this past weekend and made a series of posts in which she says she was also one of the singer’s victims.
Joycelyn then gave a detailed account of her experiences while living with the 52-year-old singer, which seemed strikingly similar that of the women who previously spoke out against him.
She alleges that the singer controlled when she ate, when she could take a bath, when she could use the bathroom and who she could speak to. Adding that whenever she didn’t address him as “Daddy” or ‘’Master”, the singer would allegedly choke her until she blacked out.
In her posts, the model points out that things were different when she first met R Kelly in 2015 and dropped out of college shortly after moving in with him. But she said his treatment changed a few months later as he would yell at her for not addressing him as “Master” or “Daddy” and that one of the singer’s assistants would stand by the door whenever she had to take a shower.
“I had bruises around my neck,” she wrote about the alleged choking incidents, “and I was told by him to wear a turtleneck or a scarf to cover them up whenever he would take me out in public. I was frightened to tell anyone about this because of what he may do next. His assistant didn’t even care, and especially the other girls they were in for the money as well.”
Joycelyn also claims the singer would threaten to end her career if she ever left him or spoke privately to her parents. “‘All this can stop today, you want a career? Or do you want to live a normal life’,” she wrote.
However, R Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg, has since hit back at Joycelyn in a statement he released on the matter saying that she is only speaking out against the singer because he no longer financially supports her. “Obviously if she were to tell the truth, no one would pay, so she has, unfortunately, chosen to regurgitate the stories and lies told by others for her own personal profit.”
According to TMZ, R Kelly is currently in jail facing several charges of sexual abuse in different states.
