She’s one of our faves in the music industry because she
drops hit after hit.
Singer Shekhinah, who rose to fame as an Idols SA
contestant, took to Twitter to announce that her hit single, Suited, has been
certified gold and platinum.
She posted a picture of herself with two platinum and
gold plaques and captioned the snap: “We made RoseGold in my home and now it
streams all over the Globe (literally) Welldone to a solid team thank you God
and all the people who bought the album and supported the music always, we
certified Gold and Platinum on The single #Suited [sic].”
Shekhinah released her debut album, RoseGold, last October
– which also dropped internationally, according to The Juice.
When speaking to Channel24 Music about her album and what
inspired it, Shekhinah said, “People,
everybody, relationships, uhm mostly, because we’re young you know. Still
trying to find that special somebody . . . so it’s mostly inspired by love and
how we feel and a lot of women empowerment, obviously, because I write . . . uhm,
ja, love, [sic] women empowerment.”
The 23-year-old was also an opening act for American singer-songwriter
John Legend in Johannesburg and Durban during his concerts in SA last November.
