Rapper, Sho Madjozi has never been one to shy away from sharing her thoughts on societal issues and this time, she’s putting her money where her mouth is.
Taking to her Twitter page, the John Cena hit-maker announced how she had partnered up with Bridges Academy in Langa, Cape Town to create a scholarship for an aspiring female sound engineers as the space is mostly male dominated.
“The technical side of music is so male dominated & I’d like to see more women in that space. That’s why I’ve created a scholarship for a female producer to attend the Bridges Academy in Langa. The 5 month course starts in a few weeks and you can apply here,” she wrote before sharing the link to the application form.
According to the application form, the scholarship is open to one female student and will focus on three modules: Sound / Music, Entrepreneurship and Mindfulness.
“This program has been designed by top educators and industry leaders and is focussed around three pillars, Sound / Music, Entrepreneurship and Mindfulness… Before you continue with this application it must be noted that this program will be HARD WORK and requires your full commitment for 4.5 months,” the form reads.

Speaking to Channel24 during the launch of the Bridges Music Academy in November 2019, the songwriter opened up about her dream to open a music academy in her village.

“I just decided that there has to be some kind of facility in my village that will teach people stuff about the entertainment industry, train them in technical skills and also give them some kind of experience," she said before revealing that she would love to sponsor a female student.
“I want to know how to potentially sponsor a student to come here," she asked during the Q&A portion of the academy's launch.
“A student I would want to sponsor would hopefully be a young woman who is interested in learning technical production skills, because I don't see enough of that in young women. I want to hire women engineers, I want to hire women producers, but that's hard to do because women often don't have those technical skills," she continued.
And well, it seems that the rapper kept her word.
