Actress, businesswoman and wedding-planning guru Sophie Ndaba is still well-known for her role as Queen on Generations – a character she played for 20 years.

Now Sophie can add reality TV to her impressive CV. However, the actress says she’s still in the scriptwriting phase for the pilot episode. “We want to see if it works out or not,” Sophie said.

The 45-year-old mother of three has also undergone a huge body transformation but it’s more of a lifestyle change. “I am diabetic, so that gave me an awakening. It made me realise I have children and I have a responsibility towards them,” she said.

Since her diagnosis Sophie has been hitting the gym and swimming, and she’s cut down on alcohol, sugar and carbohydrates. But she also believes a diet is very important because “eating healthy is seen as being fancy but it actually helps”.

Besides looking lit and working on her reality show, Sophie also stars in the movie She is King. She plays the role of a mother. “Being a part of that film was very different – the movie has a lot of people from the industry so it was an exciting experience,” she said.

When Sophie isn’t charming us on screen, she’s busy planning weddings and other events in places like Mauritius with her events company, Sophla Events. She’s also partnered with the 2017 Metro FM Heatwave happening at De Beers Stadium in Kimberley Saturday 16 December. She’ll be also hosting a New Year’s Eve party in Vilakazi Street, Soweto.

The award-winning actress might be busy in business but she has time for love too. Sophie mentions that she has a man in her life but she isn’t divulging his identity. “I’m old – I mean no one can be alone but that is a story for another day.”
