Cape Town - The Forbes list for the highest paid musicians of 2019 is out and topping the list is none other than two rivals, singer Taylor Swift and rapper Kanye West.

According to the business magazine, Taylor Swift came out on top as the highest paid musician who has earned a total of $185 million (R2.7 billion), thanks to her new record deal with Republic Records and the Universal Music Groupa number of endorsement deals as well as her recent tour. While Mr West followed closely behind by earning a total of $150 million (R2.2 billion) due to the sales of his sneaker line, Yeezys.

In the top 5 list is singer Ed Sheeran who took the number three spot by earning a total of R110 million (R1.6 billion) while rock band The Eagles and veteran musician Elton John took the fourth and fifth spot earning $100 million (R1.4 billion) and $84 million (R1.2 billion) respectively.

And if you’re wondering where on the list the Carters are, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that Bey and Jay tied at number six, each earning a total of $81 million (R1.1 billion) in 2019.

In 2018, rock band U2 took the title of the highest paid musicians after earning a whopping $316 million (R4.7 billion) but this year the band currently sits at the 39th spot after only earning $37 million (R547 million).
