The Curse of Teko Modise written by Nikolaos Kirkinis details the life of one of the best soccer players in South Africa. Called “The General” by his fans, Teko’s life hasn’t been easy.

At just eight years old, the soccer star was kicked out of his home. At the height of his career, his highly publicised divorce and alleged drinking problem saw him in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. After many hardships, which contributed to his “downfall” last year, he picked himself up and helped Mamelodi Sundowns win the Caf Champions League. The book shares his story of rags to riches, being a parent, overcoming controversy and remaining relevant.

Teko took to Instagram to reveal that the book has some shocking revelations. “Kept this [book] a secret for a while, I’m Happy and I feel blessed to share all of me with you all. Football has given me so much and it would be an injustice not to share my trial, tribulations and more shocking stuff.”
