Cape Town - Tiffany Haddish was being sued earlier this year by her ex-husband, William Stewart, over her memoir, The Last Black Unicorn, which was released last year December 2017.

The book had featured a chapter titled “The Ex Husband” which painted William as an abusive husband during their five years of marriage even though she never mentioned his name. William has sued Tiffany and Simon & Schuster, the book’s publisher, for defamation, libel and slander.

According to The Blast, he is allegedly seeking in excess of one million dollars in damages.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, William’s lawyers sent several letters to the actress and the book publisher to try and reach a settlement before filing his lawsuit. William claims that he reached out to the MTV Movie & TV Awards host and she responded by saying: “Be patient your blessings are coming” and “start to think positive so positive things can come your way. Because your blessings are waiting on you.”

The comedian’s ex-husband also claims that Tiffany gave an interview with comedian Dom Irrera in 2012, where she admits that William never beat her. He claims the Night School star made a joke that “he never beat me up, he just choked me a little bit” and that choking was often a punch line in her comedy.

Legal documents also reported, “Furthermore, we have information that will demonstrate Ms. Haddish regularly requested Mr. Stewart to become more aggressive with her during sex, including, among other things, to choke her as a part of their sexual intercourse”.

According to Daily Mail, the detective claimed The Girls Trip actress abused him through their on and off five-year marriage and he said he has recordings of her talking with a psychic about her 'erratic and violent’ tendencies.

Reports from theJasmineBrand showed that Tiffany had a restraining order against her ex-husband back in July 2011 but were later dropped because she wanted to work on their marriage. The documents state that she filed a restraining order against him at the time and also claimed he attacked her in July 2010 in Montreal while she was performing with other comics.

Tiffany, who divorced William for a second time in 2013, previously responded to William’s lawsuit by claiming he failed to ask her to “clarify, correct or retract” the claims he is objecting to, and never gave specifics on what he wanted changed when he reached out to her about the book.
