Kwaito star and convicted rapist Sipho "Brickz" Ndlovu, who was granted R80 000 bail by the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court last week, performed for the first time after his release at Bassline in Johannesburg last night.
Hosted by Fire Thursday Reggae Night organisers Admiral and Bongo Maffin’s Jah Seed, the event had the crowd jumping with delight when the Andapende hit the stage.
Brickz seemed happy to be back on stage. “He looked so happy performing, his energy was amazing and he still looks like the same Brickz,” a fan said.
Another former supporter said he wasn’t sure what to feel about the gige. “He looked great on stage and we loved the songs, but I still feel sorry for the victim.”
Brickz was last year sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty of raping his teenage niece in 2013.
His bail conditions include not leaving Johannesburg without informing the investigating officer, handing over his travel documents, not entering any international entry and he’s to report to the Jabulani Police Station in Soweto every Monday and Wednesday.
His alleged victim, however, remains broken.
