American filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry is spreading love all round this holiday season by doing one random act of kindness at a time and anonymously paying for two grocery store layaways.

Taking to Twitter the 49-year-old Tyler Perry Studios producer who recently announced his decision to call it quits with his Madea film franchise, revealed in a shared video that he had failed to keep the layaway purchases a secret.

“Trying to do this anonymously but, um, due to some circumstances y’all know how nothing stays secret these days,” he explained. “So, I just wanted to go ahead and tell you.”

In the video Tyler recalls paying for two layaway purchases worth $434,000 (R6 114 300.50) according to E!News.

Layaways refer to the mega-store allowing customers to reserve items by paying a deposit then paying the outstanding balance at a later-stage prior to pick up – this is also known as a lay-bye.

The Vice actor paid for layaway items that were purchased by 1500 people, in two separate Atlanta Walmart stores.

“..if you have a layaway at either place and it was in there as of 9:30 this morning, it was already in layaway before 9:30 this morning — I have paid for all of your layaways for Christmas,” said Tyler Perry in the clip.

“So, Merry Christmas to everybody.”

“Anonymous or not, we hope you know that you just made Christmas for so many families. You went above and beyond. Thank you” responded the Walmart page to Tyler’s tweet.
