The film industry seems to be releasing much anticipated movies this year, locally and internationally.
Twitter went into a frenzy when news broke out that a UK based film and television Production Company ShowBizbee is currently working on a movie based on the life of the late Legendary Queen of African Pop, Brenda Fassie is in works and will be expected to hit the screen later this year. The movie is set to be shot in Johannesburg and Cape Town according to Sowetan Live.
In a statement acquired by Sowetan Live, Bongani Fassie said, “It is with great excitement that we have partnered with Showbizbee Film Productions to make the Brenda Fassie movie for Box Office release.”
“I’m particularly eager to participate in the production as (Co-Executive producer) so that the real story of my mom comes alive to the people of South Africa and the world,” he added.
Brenda passed away in 2004 when she was admitted to hospital and according to News24 the singer died due to cocaine overdose and left her son Bongani Fassie.
Rapper and entrepreneur ProVerb then took to Twitter to ask tweeps who they think will do justice to Ma Brr’s character. Tweeps gave their suggestions from local to international stars but Brenda Ngxoli’s name came up quite a lot.
