Whoopi Goldberg has revealed that she almost died during her battle with pneumonia.
With just over a month of being away from US panel talk show The View, co-host Whoopi updated the world on her recent health struggles which caused her to be absent from the show.
Actress Whoopi pre-recorded a video message that aired during the recent episode of The View, where she told the viewers she came “very close to leaving the Earth” after contracting pneumonia in both her lungs.
“Hey, yes, it’s me. I am here. I am up and moving around. Not as fast as I’d like to be, but I am okay. I’m not dead. So here’s what happened: I had pneumonia and I was septic. Pneumonia in both lungs, which means there was fluid, there was all kinds of stuff going on,” Whoopi said in the video.
She went on to thank everyone who sent her “good wishes” and showed support through her recovery, and furthermore acknowledged well wishes she also received from those who “are not huge fans” of her.
“Thank you for all of your good wishes. All of the wonderful things that people have been saying. Even people who are not huge fans of mine have actually said nice things about me. We all know that’s going to change when I get back, but for right now it’s brilliant.”
Lastly she addressed her co-hosts, Sunny Hostin, Meghan McCain, Joy Behar and Abby Huntsman, and said, “Ladies, I cannot wait to see y’all. This has been interesting and I’ll tell you about it when we’re all at the table. To everybody, see you soon.”
Whoopi did not mention when she would be returning to the show.
