Cape Town - The woman who forked out R1.3 million to bail singer, R Kelly out of prison in February this year wants her money back, but she won’t see it any time soon.

Valencia Love put up the money after R Kelly spent three nights in Cook County Jail. The money bought his freedom for about four months — before he was arrested again on federal charges, reports Essence.

Valencia wants the money back, but not because she’s had a change of heart, in fact, she wants to use the money to pay for R Kelly’s legal costs and other necessities. Valencia told the Chicago Sun Times she had no knowledge of federal investigations in other states.

When Valencia’s legal team filed a motion for the money to be returned to her, the presiding judge, Judge Lawrence Flood denied it, saying there was no legal basis for it.

She could get her money back at the end of Kelly’s criminal case in Cook County, but that could take years. "She’s worried she’s in jeopardy of losing that money," her attorney said in court.

According to reports by Chicago Sun Times, "Kelly already had reimbursed her just three days after he posted his bond."

"He wasn’t able to get to his money because it was the weekend and he was the only one who had access to his account. It was basically a loan," Valencia told the publication.

"Why is it such a big deal? He’s already locked up," she said. "Why can’t the bail money be returned?"

"While Love wouldn’t provide any details about the nature of her relationship with Kelly, she vehemently defended the embattled R&B star and called into question the nature of the allegations against him."

"At no point have I ever supported a paedophile," Love said. "He has not been convicted yet. Why is it so bad that I did a favour for a friend?" she asked.
